RIBBON
BLENDER
A horizontal batch blender for free-flowing powders, granules and compatible minor additions. Opposite-pitch inner and outer ribbons generate two-way axial flow with radial turnover, repeatedly dividing and recombining the batch for uniform distribution.
HOW THE MIXER WORKS

CHARGE
Load major and minor ingredients through the top inlet.

CLOSE
Close the cover and prove guards and safety interlocks.

MIX
Inner and outer ribbons move product in opposing axial directions.

CIRCULATE
Radial turnover repeatedly divides and recombines the batch.

VERIFY
Confirm the validated endpoint by time or sampling.

DISCHARGE
Open the central bottom outlet for rapid emptying.
APPLICATION FIT & PROCESS VALUE
RIGHT APPLICATION
Free-flowing powders
Suitable for powders, granules and pellets that circulate without excessive compaction or smearing.
Minor ingredient addition
Two-way axial flow supports distribution of small components after
validated charging and sampling.
Controlled liquid addition
Optional spray addition can support light coating or wetting when product flow remains acceptable.
DESIGN VALUE
Axial counter-flow
Opposite-pitch ribbons move product simultaneously toward the centre and toward the ends.
Radial turnover
Ribbon action and U-trough curvature lift and fold material across the agitator shaft.
Economical batch blending
Simple horizontal construction supports repeatable dry blending and
practical maintenance.
CONSTRUCTION & CONFIGURATION OPTIONS
PRODUCT CONTACТ
SS304 or SS316L with application-specific internal finish and weld treatment
MIXER BODY
Horizontal U-shaped trough with one central shaft and inner and outer helical ribbons
DISCHARGE
Central flush bottom valve selected for flow,
containment and cleanability
DRIVE
Heavy-duty geared main drive with VFD, torque monitoring and protected shaft coupling
CLEANING
Wide hinged cover, smooth internals, accessible discharge and dry or validated wet cleaning
SAFETY
Interlocked cover, guarded main drive, zero-speed proofand lockout provisions
COUNTER-FLOW CONVECTIVE MIXING CONCЕРТ
Opposite-pitch inner and outer ribbons rotate inside a horizontal U-shaped trough. Their opposing axial movement, combined with radial turnover, repeatedly divides, crosses and recombines the batch until the validated blend endpoint is reached.
CONTROLLED BATCH SEQUENCE

CHARGE
Confirm outlet closed and add ingredients.

CLOSE
Close cover and prove allsafety interlocks.

MIX
Run the ribbon shaft at validated speed and time.

CIRCULATE
Maintain opposing axial flow and radial tumover.

VERIFY
Sample or confirm the established endpoint.

DISCHARGE
Open the central bottom outlet and empty rapidly.
CONTROL, SAFETY & MAINTENANCE
Start permissive
Mixer starts only with cover and outlet closed and all guards proven.
Drive protection
Current, torque, speed and bearing monitoring detect abnormal load or obstruction.
Speed control
VFD control maintains validated ribbon speed, acceleration and mixing duration.
Safe access
Zero-speed proof and electrical isolation are required before opening the mixer.
Recipe control
Ribbon speed, optional spray dose, blend time and discharge logic are stored.
Cleaning access
Wide hinged cover, smooth internals and flush outlet support validated cleaning.
STANDARD RANGE & PRELIMINARY SIZING
Screening guide for free-flowing powders, granules and compatible minor additions. Working volume is shown as a planning range; final fill level, ribbon geometry, shaft speed, torque, clearance, liquid addition and discharge must be validated for the formulation.

PRELIMINARY SIZING BASIS
BATCH MASS
Mass = working volume x bulk density
Example: 1,000 L x 0.5 kg/L = 500 kg
Use loose bulk density at charging condition
CYCLE CAPACITY
Batches/h = 60/total cycle minutes
Include charge + blend + verify + discharge
Do not size from mixing time alone
WHAT CONTROLS THE FINAL SELECTION
Bulk behaviour
Density range, flowability, cohesion, angle of
repose and tendency to aerate.
Blend objective
Ingredient ratio, required CV, sampling method
and segregation sensitivity.
Mechanical duty
Gross batch mass, starting torque, shaft
deflection, bearings and transmission load.
Product protection
Fragility, abrasion, temperature sensitivity and
permitted ribbon peripheral speed.
Liquid addition
Dose, viscosity, droplet size, spray location
and allowable agglomeration target.
Hygienic duty
MOC, surface finish, closures, gaskets,
cleaning method and validation standard.
