TWIN-SHAFT

DOUBLE PADDLE MIXER

A high-efficiency batch mixer for powders, granules and controlled liquid addition. Two synchronized counter-rotating paddle shafts lifl and project material into a mechanically fluidized zone, creating rapid three-dimensional exchange with low product stress.

HOW THE MIXER WORKS

CHARGE

Load major and minor ingredients through the top inlet.

CLOSE

Close the cover and prove guards and safety interlocks.

MIX

Counter-rotating paddles lift and project the product.

FLUIDIZE

Particles exchange through radial and axial flow paths.

VERIFY

Confirm the validated endpoint by time or sampling.

DISCHARGE

Open the central bottom outlet for rapid emptying.

APPLICATION FIT & PROCESS VALUEx`

RIGHT APPLICATION

Powders and granules

Suitable for free-flowing through moderately cohesive dry formulations and premixes.

Minor ingredient addition

Strong convective exchange supports uniform distribution after suitable dosing or premixing.

Liquid addition

Optional atomizing spray bar distributes limited liquid without creating
local wet spots.

DESIGN VALUE

Mechanically fluidized zone

Opposing paddles reduce the influence of particle size, shape and density during active mixing.

Short cycle potential

Rapid radial, circumferential and axial exchange can reduce blend time after validation.

Low residual design

Close-clearance paddles and a wide flush outlet support efficient discharge and cleanout.

CONSTRUCTION & CONFIGURATION OPTIONS

PRODUCT CONTACТ

SS304 or SS316L with application-specific internal finish and weld treatment

MIXER BODY

Horizontal W-shaped trough with two parallel shafts and adjustable angled paddles

DISCHARGE

Central flush bottom valve selected for flow,
containment and cleanability

DRIVE

Synchronized geared drive with VFD, torque
monitoring and protected transmission

CLEANING

Hinged access cover, removable internals where required, and dry dr or validated wwet cleaning

SAFETY

Interlocked cover, fixed drive guards, zero-speed proofand lockout provisions

MECHANICALLY FLUIDIZED MIXING CONCЕРТ

Two synchronized shafts rotate in opposite directions. Angled paddles lift and project material toward the centre, producing a low-density mechanically fluidized zone while outer return flow and axial transport repeatedly renew particle contact.

CONTROLLED BATCH SEQUENCE

CHARGE

Confirm outlet closed and add ingredients.

CLOSE

Close cover and prove all safety interlocks

MIX

Run both shafts at the validated speed and time.

SPRAY

Sample or confirm the established endpoint.

VERIFY

Release into the destination.

DISCHARGE

Open the central bottom outlet and empty rapidly

CONTROL, SAFETY & MAINTENANCE

Start permissive

Mixer starts only with cover and outlet closed and all guards proven.

Drive protection

Current, torque, speed and bearing monitoring detect abnormal load or obstruction.

Shaft synchronization

Timing gears or a synchronized transmission maintain paddle clearance and direction.

Safe access

Zero-speed proof and electrical isolation are required before opening the mixer.

Recipe control

Speed, blend time, spray sequence and discharge logic are stored by formulation.

Cleaning access

Wide hinged cover, smooth internals and flush outlet support validated cleaning.

STANDARD RANGE & PRELIMINARY SIZING

Screening guide for conventional powder and granular products. Working volume is shown at 60% of gross mixer volume; final fill level, paddle
geometry, shaft speed, torque, power, spray system and discharge must be validated for the actual formulation.

PRELIMINARY SIZING BASIS

BATCH MASS

Mass = working volume x bulk density

Example: 1,000 L x 0.5 kg/L = 500 kg

Use loose bulk density at charging condition

CYCLE CAPACITY

Batches/h = 60/total cycle minutes

Include charge + blend + verify + discharge

Do not size from mixing time alone

WHAT CONTROLS THE FINAL SELECTION

Bulk behaviour

Density range, flowability, cohesion, angle of
repose and tendency to aerate.

Blend objective

Ingredient ratio, required CV, sampling method
and segregation sensitivity.

Mechanical duty

Gross batch mass, starting torque, shaft
deflection, bearings and transmission load.

Product protection

Fragility, abrasion, temperature sensitivity and
permitted paddle tip speed.

Liquid addition

Dose, viscosity, droplet size, spray location
and allowable wet agglomeration.

Hygienic duty

MOC, surface finish, closures, gaskets,
cleaning method and validation standard.

FINAL ENGINEERING CHECK

Confirm formulation data

Define test and CV target

Complete representative trial

Verify torque and shaft design

Agree FAT acceptance criteria
