FLEXIBLE SHAFTLESS

SCREW CONVEYOR

A compact enclosed conveyor in which a motor-driven, open-centre flexible spiral rotates inside a tube to move powders and granules from a feed hopper to an elevated process point.

HOW THE SYSTEM WORKS

LOAD

Material enters the hopper above the lower spiral.

FILL

Product settles into the spiral flight spaces.

ROTATE

The geared drive turns the shaftiess spiral.

ADVANCE

Rotating flights push material through the tube.

LIFT

The enclosed tube carries material to elevation.

DISCHARGE

Product exits through the uppe outlet spout.

WHEN FLEXIBLE SCREW CONVEYING IS THE RIGHT CHOICE

PROCESS FIT

Free-flowing powders

Well suited to many dry powders, granules and blended ingredients.

Moderate throughput

A practical choice for continuous or batch feeding over short routes.

Dust containment

An enclosed tube limits product loss, exposure and housekeeping.

KEY ADVANTAGES

Compact installation

A small hopper footprint and inclined tube fit constrained process areas.

Simple product path

Few internal components support reliable operation and straightforward access.

Automation ready

Drive, hopper level, current and downstream permissives can connect to the PLC

CONSTRUCTION & CONFIGURATION OPTIONS

SPIRAL MOC

Spring steel or stainless spiral selected for product and duty

TUBE OPTIONS

Food-grade polymer tube or stainless outer tube where required

SPIRAL PROFILE

Round, flat or application-specific open-centre geometry

CONFIGURATION

Fixed or mobile hopper with inclined or near-horizontal routing

CLEANING

Dry clean-out, removable spiral, air purge or wash-compatible option

PROTECTION

Current overload, zero-speed, level and access safety interlocks

FLEXIBLE SHAFTLESS SCREW OPERATING CONCEPT

The lower end of an open-centre flexible spiral is flooded with product from the hopper. Rotation advances material through the enclosing tube and lifts it to the discharge, while the spiral flexes to suit a smooth inclined route.

CONTROLLED OPERATING SEQUENCE

LOAD

Charge product into the hopper.

FILL

Flood the lower spiral section.

ROTATE

Geared drive turns the spiral.

ADVANCE

Flights push produc upward.

DISCHARGE

Release at selected elevation.

CONTROL, PROTECTION & MAINTENANCE

Start-up permissive

Confirm downstream readiness before starting the spiral and product feed.

Current monitoring

Rising motor current can indicate overfill, compaction, blockage or product change.

Spiral protection

Correct speed, bend radius and empty-start logic protect the flexible spiral.

Discharge confirmation

Downstream equipment readiness is interlocked with conveyor operation.

Access protection

Inspection covers and drive guards are interlocked where required.

Cleaning access

Quick-release tube, hopper access and removable spiral support sanitation.

STANDARD CAPACITY & PRELIMINARY SIZING

CAPACITY CALCULATION BASIS

INCLINATION CORRECTION

Qinclined = Qhorizontal x Ki

Ki guide: 15 deg 0.90 | 30 deg 0.75 | 45 deg 0.60

DENSITY CORRECTION

Qm = Qv x bulk density / 1000

Qm in t/h; Qv in m3/h; density in kg/m3

WHAT CONTROLS THE FINAL SELECTION

Material behaviour

Flowability, fragility, abrasion, moisture and temperature.

Tube & spiral geometry

Clearance, spiral diameter, pitch, section and tube material.

Speed & drive

Required throughput, starting torque, VFD range and motor service factor.

Route & incline

Length, lift, angle, smooth bend radius and discharge elevation.

Loading consistency

Controlled hopper flow avoids starvation, compaction and overload.
