VERTICAL CONICAL

RIBBON BLENDER

A top-driven batch mixer for gentle, repeatable blending of powders and granules. The conical vessel, outer ribbon and inner return helix generate three-dimensional convective circulation with low product retention and complete gravity-assisted discharge.

HOW THE BLENDER WORKS

CHARGE

Load major and minor ingredients through the top ports.

LIFT

Outer ribbon raises material along the conical wall.

RETURN

Inner helix and gravity move material down the centre.

EXCHANGE

Radial circulation distributes components throughout.

VERIFY

Mixing endpoint is confirmed by time or sample result.

DISCHARGE

Flush bottom valve supports low-residue emptying.

APPLICATION FIT & PROCESS VALUE

RIGHT APPLICATION

Powder and granule blends

Suitable for dry ingredients with different particle size, shape and bulk density.

Fragile materials

Low-speed convective mixing helps limit attrition, heating and particle damage.

Multi-product duty

Conical discharge and top-supported agitator support cleaning and recipe changeover.

DESIGN VALUE

Minor ingredient distribution

Three-dimensional circulation can disperse low-dose additives when charging is controlled.

Liquid addition

Optional spray nozzles distribute controlled liquid additions onto a moving
powder bed.

Integrated processing

Jacket, vacuum, load cells, sampler and chopper can be engineered when required.

CONSTRUCTION & CONFIGURATION OPTIONS

PRODUCT CONTACТ

SS304 or SS316L with application-specific internal finish and weld treatment

AGITATOR

Outer conical ribbon with inner return helix, top-driven on one central shaft

DISCHARGE

Flush butterfly, slide or ball-segment valve selected for powder behaviour

PROCESS

Liquid spray, high-speed chopper, heating/cooling jacket or vacuum execution

CLEANING

Wide manway, removable spray devices, CIP/SIP preparation and purged seal options

CONTROLS

VFD, torque/current monitoring, recipe control, load cells and safety interlocks

THREE-DIMENSIONAL MIXING CONCЕРТ

The outer conical ribbon lifts material along the wall while the inner return helix and gravity move it downward through the centre. Simultaneous radial exchange creates a repeating convective circulation pattern throughout the batch.

CONTROLLED BATCH SEQUENCE

CHARGE

Confirm valve closed and add ingredients.

START

Run mixer at the validated recipe speed.

BLEND

Maintain convective circulation for set time.

SPRAY

Add liquid only at the validated stage

VERIFY

Sample or confirm the established endpoint.

DISCHARGE

Open outlet while ribbon assists emptying.

CONTROL, SAFETY & MAINTENANCE

Start permissive

Drive starts only with manway closed, outlet shut and all guards proven.

Torque protection

Current or torque monitoring detects overload, compaction or foreign objects.

Seal protection

Top seal can use air purge or monitored barrier arrangement for dusty service.

Safe access

Zero-speed confirmation and isolation are required before opening the vessel.

Recipe control

Speed, charge order, spray timing and blend time are stored by formulation.

Cleaning access

Top manway, flush outlet and optional spray devices support validated cleaning.

STANDARD RANGE & PRELIMINARY SIZING

Screening guide for conventional dry powder and granule blending. Working volume is the nominal usable batch volume; final fill level, torque, power, ribbon clearance and discharge must be validated for the actual formulation.

PRELIMINARY SIZING BASIS

BATCH MASS

Mass = working volume x bulk density

Example: 1,000 L x 0.5 kg/L = 500 kg
Use loose bulk density at charging condition

CYCLE CAPACITY

Batches/h = 60/total cycle minutes

Include charge + blend + verify + discharge
Do not size from mixing time alone

WHAT CONTROLS THE FINAL SELECTION

Bulk behaviour

Density range, flowability, cohesion, aeration and tendency to compact.

Blend objective

Ingredient ratio, required CV, sampling method and segregation sensitivity.

Mechanical duty

Batch mass, friction, ribbon loading, start-under-load and foreign-object risk.

Product protection

Fragility, abrasion, temperature sensitivity and permitted shear input.

Process options

Liquid addition, chopper, jacket, vacuum, inerting and load-cell requirements.

Hygienic duty

MOC, surface finish, seals, cleaning method, access and validation standard.

FINAL ENGINEERING CHECK

Confirm formulation data

Define test and CV target

Complete representative trial

Verify motor torque and seal

Agree FAT acceptance criteria
