FLAMELESS

EXPLOSION VENTING

A compact passive protection system for indoor and confined installations where conventional explosion-vent ducting is impractical. The integrated vent and flame-quenching element relieve pressure while arresting flame propagation into the surrounding area.

CONTROLLED FLAMELESS RELIEF SEQUENCE

EXPLOSION EVENT

Pressure rises inside equipment.

VENT ACTIVATION

Vent opens at its specified burst pressure.

FLAME ARRESTING

Hot products enter the mesh element.

FLAME QUENCHING

Heat is absorbed and flame propagation is arrested.

REDUCED DISCHARGE

Cooled qases and reduced pressure discharge around the unit.

WHY FLAMELESS VENTING

Indoor equipment

Supports protected equipment installed inside production and utility areas.

Compact integration

Mounts directly to compatible explosion vents and process equipment.

Reduced duct risk

Eliminates pressure losses and secondary hazards associated with unsuitable long ducts.

Restricted layout

Avoids long vent ducts where routing to a safe outdoor location is difficult.

Particulate retention

Flame-arresting media helps retain burning and unburned particles during discharge.

Passive operation

No external energy is required for vent activation and flame quenching.

ADVANCED PROTECTION FOR INDOOR & CONFINED ENVIRONMENTS

Flameless venting controls flame propagation but does not eliminate all effects of an explosion. Heat, pressure, noise, smoke, dust release, safety distance and structural response must be evaluated for the actual installation.

CONTROLLED FLAME QUENCHING

The explosion vent provides the calibrated pressure-relief opening. The surrounding quench assembly then cools the flame front and disperses the relieved gases without a projected external flame jet.

SYSTEM COMPONENTS

Explosion vent panel

Calibrated non-reclosing element sized for the protected enclosure.

Quench mesh assembly

High-surface-area metallic element engineered to absorb heat and arrest flame.

Outer support structure

Rigid frame or cage maintains element geometry under discharge loading.

Mounting interface

Companion flange or frame transfers loads and seals the protected opening.

Burst indicator

Optional sensor provides event indication to PLC, DCS or plant safety system.

Clearance envelope

Specified free space around the unit accommodates heat and reduced discharge effects.

FEATURES & TECHNICAL SCOPE

Flameless relief

Integrated vent and quench assembly for indoor explosion pressure relief.

High-efficiency mesh

Metallic flame-arresting matrix selected for the approved application.

No projected flame jet

Designed to arrest flame propagation beyond the unit during a qualified
event.

Multiple shapes

Circular, rectangular and square configurations suit different equipment openings

Burst indication

Optional event sensor can communicate activation to the control system.

Industrial construction

Robust carbon-steel or stainless-steel body with standard and custom sizes.

KEY ADVANTAGES

Protects surrounding areas from projected flame hazards

Eliminates conventional long vent ducts where appropriate

Reduces installation and duct-maintenance requirements

Avoids added duct resistance when correctly applied

Helps retain particulates during the venting event

Supports compact equipment and plant layouts
